Run retrospectives from Slack

Type /retro in any channel and Peel posts a Join card. Your team opens the board from Slack, writes hidden cards, and the message updates itself as the retro moves from writing to reveal to actions. The app is free to install.

How it works

  1. Add Peel to your Slack workspace (scopes: commands, chat:write, links:read, links:write).
  2. In a channel, type /retro, optionally with a template such as /retro 4l, and click Open to start.
  3. Your browser creates the board and its encryption key, and Peel posts a Join card to the channel.
  4. Teammates join from the card without an account. The card shows the phase and how many people are in.
  5. When you are done, the facilitator can post Retro Wrapped and the action list, after confirming what is sent.

What you get

/retro command

Start a retro from the channel where your team already talks, with any of the 55 templates.

Live status card

The Join card updates as the retro happens: writing, revealed, number of actions.

Link unfurls

Board links shared in Slack show the board title, phase and participant count, never card content.

Wrapped and actions

Post a Retro Wrapped card and the action list to the channel in one tap.

Schedules and mentions (Pro)

Post a reminder with a ready board before every retro, and mention action owners.

Your cards stay out of Slack

The integration carries links and metadata only: title, phase and counts. Card text reaches Slack only when the facilitator posts a summary and confirms it. The Join card contains the board link, so anyone who can read the channel can join, the same as pasting the link yourself.

Microsoft Teams

A Teams app with a meeting side panel and share-to-stage is coming soon. Until then, share the board link in the meeting chat.

Questions

Is the Slack app free?

Yes. Install, /retro, the Join card, live status, unfurls and posting Wrapped are free. Schedules, mentions and the coffee ledger are part of Pro.

Can Peel read our Slack messages?

No. Peel only receives the /retro command and links to Peel boards that are shared in channels it is in.

Do teammates need a Peel account?

No. They join from the card with a name and an avatar.
