What is the Kudos Board retrospective?
The Kudos board is a retro dedicated entirely to appreciation: Thank you, Shout-outs and You helped me. Recognition is one of the strongest predictors of engagement, but it rarely gets its own time. A kudos session takes 15 minutes and lifts the mood of the whole team.
The columns
- Thank you
- Shout-outs
- You helped me
When to use it
Use it at the end of a big release, before holidays, as a farewell for a colleague, or as a warm-up before a tougher retro.
How to run it in Peel in 5 steps
- Create a Kudos board and share the link.
- Ask everyone to write at least two cards and mention people by name.
- Reveal all at once for the full effect.
- Read the cards aloud, slap some stickers on them, and let people react.
- Save the board as an image or post the Wrapped card to your team channel.
Frequently asked questions
Should kudos be anonymous?
Peel keeps authors hidden by default; people can sign a card by adding their name to the text.
Can I combine kudos with a normal retro?
Yes. Run a short Kudos board first, then switch to your usual template.
